We are in July and our apricot tree is fully loaded with red-orange apricots ready to eat... Hey, not so long ago, San Jose and the Silicon Valley was just a vast area of fruit trees... Can you believe it?
In this sunny day, we decided to head up to San Francisco to visit the Historic Vessels of Hyde Street Pier. If you happen to have the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Annual Pass, lucky you: this is free.
Hyde Street Pier was built in 1922 for automobile ferries between San Francisco and Sausalito. The ferry route was part of U.S. 101 until the Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1937.
Today, the pier and five of the historic vessels are open to visitors. We spent one hour or two visiting the outside and inside of the ships and finished the visit with a yummy ice cream dessert at Ghirardelli.
